any dentist-going lovers out there? definitely
not me. i have that right up there with going to the gynecologist. have always hated going. but, since moving to
dallas i have had the good fortune of getting into the office of
dr. shannon. he's like the best dentist i have ever had. so gentle, "non-
lectury". his
hygienist doesn't believe in the hard core "
scrapage" technique either (totally complimented her on her gentleness!), a definite plus seeing as i don't go every 6 months like i should. the last time i was at the dentist was when i was about 7 months pregnant with
taylor. i had had a small cavity then, but he replied, "since it's small and you're in your delicate state,
i'll let you walk. but we need to take care of that after you have your baby." well, you can guess that i didn't go back in. even though dr. shannon is "all that", he's still a dentist. so i finally went in for an exam and cleaning on wednesday. it had been like 4 years. i braced myself for lectures about not getting my cleanings on a regular basis and flossing, but other than one reference to my long absence from the hygienist and then later from dr. shannon when describing the state of my mouth, that was it. actually, both said that the condition of my gums and teeth were surprisingly good considering it had been so long. naturally there was build up and i still had that cavity. am i lucky or what? i was expecting way worse news! needless to say, i have my follow-up appointment next week and then my mouth will be healthy again. next up: the gynecologist! blah!!! {shudders}
