coach gullit should be proud of the boys. they showed us what sexy football looks like. which they should be able to since it was their coach that coined the phrase (gullit used the term to describe teams who played attractive football with an emphasis on the defense-penetrating pass-and-move game -wikipedia).

a bearded beckham (am *not* liking it) and the guys of the la galaxy won their rival game tonight against chivas usa. ld bagged a hat trick and my boy, alan gordon (Ohhhh....Sssss....Uuuuuu....OREGON STATE. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!), buried 2 goals to put the galaxy up 5-2 by the final whistle.

david was on the ellen degeneres show today and even she admitted to him that he was "easy on the eyes"!!! she had promised her viewers that she would try to get him to take his shirt off. she put forth quite an effort during the interview, but was not successful until the end of her show. oh. my. god. it was the most exciting 20 seconds EVER. something about the way he tossed his jacket aside, edged down his shirt and then grinned at the camera as he entered his dressing room. i'll say it again...oh. my. god.

priorities

so an infamous texas thunderstorm is upon us tonight. i remember the first time i experienced one during my second visit to the lone star state. have to say i was FREAKED out by all the violent thunder claps and lightening strikes. but that was 8-9 years ago, and i'd like to think i've acclimated myself to them. well, sort of...

as i was putting tay to bed tonight, there was a loud clap that seemed to take place right in front of her bedroom window. i jumped and gasped, which in turn caused her to react even more. at that moment, i gained a bedmate. while tucking her into my bed we talked about the storm:

tay: mama, i'm scared.
me: what are you afraid of?
tay: the lightening and the thunder.
me: why?
tay: because it will blow the roof off and blow away all my toys and real make-up. (she also has plastic, pretend make-up)
me: oh...don't worry. i think your toys and real make-up will be safe tonight. the lightening and thunder won't be able to get them, okay?
tay: {nods head} ok.

nice to know that mama's expendable in case the roof blows off.

my friday...sportscenter style

7am-in starbucks getting julie's and my lattes and breakfast.
7:50am-disgruntled guardian requests conference (with 10 minutes before school starts) regarding state math assessment.
8:30am-administering spelling test.
10:15am-on the roof of the school with my principal looking for the soccer ball that was kicked up during recess yesterday.
12:30pm-while kids are @ recess, typing up the answer to the last question of my performance appraisal report for my AP (assistant principal)
4:30pm-sipping, no wait, slurping down a margarita @ happy hour.
7:30pm-buying new panties @ vicki's secret

midnight frustrations

yup people. it's twelve FREAKIN' forty a.m. after an hour long attempt at falling asleep, i finally booted up my laptop to share my woes. kai is looking at me. if i could capture her expression, it would be: "jonelle. wtf? aren't you beat? don't you have to get up early? lay your ass down and close your eyes." this has all just been punctuated with a very telling sigh and slump down to the ground with her back to me. sorry kai-doggie. about 45 minutes ago i thought i was in the clear. i was starting to drift and felt very relaxed. then outta nowhere i started coughing non-stop and wheezing...a new behavior i've picked up since being sick in the fall. never did go to the doctor and now have acquired periodic wheezing.

distraction #2: i have been hearing some strange noise for the past 1/2 hour. my window's open and it' s like someone is screaming every 3-5 minutes. i'm sure it's not really a person, but it sure is f'ing annoying. i am thinking about surrendering my preference of having the window open so the nice breeze can come in because that noise is seriously driving me nuts.

distraction #3: taylor just woke up from her bed and came into my room. shucks! she was doing so well. had been sleeping in her bed pretty regularly. although she was groggy, girlfriend was awake enough to bring her cup of water *and* coaster. :)

distraction #4: my mind is running about stuff i need to do tomorrow. oh it's not world-ending stuff...but i guess remembering to stop by the store on my way home tomorrow to get eggs & dishwasher detergent is weighing heavily on my conscious. amazing. how do i rid myself of my internal nagging? only getting up at that moment & writing a "to-do" list relieves it. ocd, you ask? so?!??! i know some of you out there who are too. ;)

alas, it's almost one a.m. and i can feel my eyes getting heavy.
