mr. rogers' neighborhood

do you remember that show? *loved* mr. rogers. he always had that soothing voice that captivated you right from his "won't you be my neighbor?" diddy. just made you feel so good inside. watching how all the neighbors interacted & visited with one another made you think that all neighborhoods were like that...until you grew up and started watching movies like save the last dance or american beauty.

now i know you must be wondering, what's all this talk about neighbors? well, here's why. spent the *entire* day outside in front of our neighbor's (jason and cori) house along with luke (a fairly new addition to the gang-he's from across the street) because we participated in the neighborhood garage sale. what started out as just setting up for/monitoring our little sale turned into eating donuts, drinking coffee & hanging out and then luke cooking us lunch on his grill! we set up the table "on the sales floor" and ate our burgers and corn on the cob and drank our beers. it was *mighty* tasty. the kids played all day long-played for a long time as they were fascinated with being in cori's suv (still a mystery to all of us as to why). we started at 8:30am and packed stuff up at....4!!! crazy, i know...but as i sat there among great friends, i had that mr. rogers feeling...you know, {imagine the end of the show song} "it's such a good feeling, to know you're alive...it's such a happy feeling, you're growing inside and when you wake up ready to say...." we just dig hanging out with each other and have the sunburn to prove it!!!

yardwork pic....as promised!

gotta be *just* like daddy sometimes! thought this was cute and was so happy to capture the moment. grammy got her this bubble mower for her 2nd birthday (it actually blows bubbles from the sides when you push it and get it going pretty fast). she got really frustrated with it in the beginning because the wheels on it weren't really made for trecking through the grass, but she got it going after a while. for those of you not from the islands, the blue rubber boots are classic footwear for the keikis (children) {side note: i think i had red ones when i was little}...i believe uncle kona and aunty anna made that purchase-as you can see, they're being put to good use!

sorry

hey guys...

i know, i know...where the *bleep* have i been?!! i've been around, just busy! busy with SERIOUSLY potty training taylor, busy with spring cleaning and "de-dogging" (think de-icing) my house, busy creating a unit on Hawaii to teach my students the last 2 weeks of school in May, busy monitoring my student teacher. that last one has been taking quite a bit of energy, let me tell you!
will post a picture of taylor doing yardwork with her daddy when time allows. it's still in my digital camera and i'm so busy right now that i don't have the 10 minutes to upload it onto my computer. is *that* not sad?! ok. 'nuff whining...time to start workin'!
