surf shack, baby surf shack!

alas, my welcome back to school bulletin board. it was really fun to put together-made everything but the tiki torches. i've had some teachers say it made them wanna get on a surfboard right that second or go to hawaii...well thanks guys! :)

oh, and btw (grandma and aunty pauline, that means
by the way) e komo mai means welcome. my principal poked his head in the door last week friday to ask what it meant. when i told him he joked, "sure...for all i know it could mean something naughty". i told him to ask our assistant principal because she grew up on molokai and he said that she was probably in cahoots with me to pull a stunt like that. i tell you, i just don't know how i got this reputation {eyes blinking innocently and grinning}. ok, i guess it's because of...cough*toilet-papering a classroom*cough.

first day

first day of school was great, despite my fever, body aches and fatigue. i kept having to blot my face with kleenex, i was sweating so bad. i'm sure parents wondered if i was a freak as i looked flushed with perspiration collecting on my forehead and around my nose. good times.

have 17 students in my homeroom...all anxious for the new school year and the possibilities it brings. the buzz in the morning as parents dropped off their kids was tremendous...kids were nervous-they even forgot to say goodbye to their mom or dad as they walked away. so funny.

i took a picture of my bulletin board with every intention to post it tonight, but i left my camera at school just in case i needed it tomorrow for any new kids that might show up (i take their pictures for my classroom job chart). will post it tomorrow. ok, have to hop in the shower, study my notes for my reading lesson tomorrow and go to sleep. the energy gained from my 3 hour nap when i came home from school is about used up. jonathan was so wonderful: picking up taylor from school and taking care of her so i could rest. thanks honey!

catch you guys later!

wiggled till we dropped

just leavin' ya with a picture tonight...i'm whipped from all the excitement and it's late-school (for teachers) tomorrow! taylor had a blast!!! will share more later...

get ready....to wiggle

well, in about 2 1/2 hours taylor will have one of her wishes come true-to see the wiggles live! when we told her this morning, she wanted to go see them right then. we had to tell her that they were still sleeping because they were tired from the long plane ride they had to take to come see her and the other kids. so funny...to get psyched for tonight's show, we played the wiggles cd in the xterra while running errands. taylor got excited and sang along the whole 2 times we played it. jonathan and i can't wait to take her...should be good times!!!

2 tails = a smile

it's 10:30 and i'm about ready for bed...had a great night tonight. the neighbors kept taylor while jonathan took me out to dinner at steve fields to celebrate my birthday. he indulged my craving for one of my most "favoritest" (hey, school hasn't started yet so i don't have to be grammatically correct...tee, hee!) foods: lobster! was kicking myself at the restaurant about not bringing my camera so i could post a few pics to share, but oh well...guess you'll just have to settle for the mini rant i'm about to give (thanks to all the food i ate, the bed's callin' my name). everything was *excellent*! the food was great, the service superb, the atmosphere just enough fancy but not too over the top. jonathan had filet and lobster while i stuck to the good stuff...just lobster tails for me, baby! =) we also had the steamed asparagus and sauteed mushrooms. mmmm....and to top everything off? my most favoritest dessert...creme brulee, of course!!! btw, steve himself brought my creme brulee (with a candle in it) along with a birthday card (with a $10 certificate in it). wow. ok, i'm off to dreamland a pretty happy camper!

fat lady's singin'

ok, so my summer vacation has come to an end...i head into school tomorrow & friday (a few days ahead of my cohorts) to prepare for some training that i have to give to the rest of the teachers. i have to say, feelin' {sniff} the blues tonight. ***listening to tim mcgraw's live like you were dying...nothing like country music to bring out the melancholy. {sighs}

so a lot's been going on, hence my not blogging the last several days. tay's bed arrived on saturday and we've been trying to get her room transformed into a "big girl room" to match her new "big girl bed". her art cable from pottery barn kids came in today (wire with metal clips that stretch along the wall to hang her paintings/drawings), still waiting for the wall letters that spell her name to come in (damn ebay!!!). been taking photos along the way, but i'll post them when her room is finished. she's so excited about her room!

oh my, it's getting kinda late and i better hop in the shower and get ready for bed. i'll leave you with a picture from when tay got her first haircut on july 14th. she did great, loved having her hair done...such a girlie girl i tell you! the place was awesome too-video games, movies, toys and magazines for the kids to keep occupied as they wait. tay got to watch the wiggles while she got her *layered* hair cut (oooh, fahn-say!). daisy (the hairdresser) was very nice!
